With racks of Gaultier, Alaïa and Girbaud, BerkChique! exposes buyers to international designer items we definitely don’t see every day in the Berkshires. Shoppers will also find a lot of unique things that aren’t designer-centric like an African cape and other fantasy items.

Dalton — If you want to spend a fun afternoon today and tomorrow, (Saturday, June 6 and Sunday ,June 7), come shop and party at BerkChique!, the 4th annual pop-up clothing and accessories fundraiser. It’s a resale event featuring beautiful and unusual garments (raided from only the most high end closets in Berkshire county) to help support five local charities.

Presented by Berkshire Creative, the all-around fête kicked off Friday with an opening party at the landmark Stationery Factory on Flansburg Avenue in Dalton. The building feels like a TriBeCa loft and served as the former home to Crane’s stationery department.

“The thing that appealed to me most about BerkChique! was that it was a win-win  . . . win-win-win,” said event chair, Vicki Bonnington, whose curated selection of garments is more like a small educational institute or museum. “Not only does it make money for local nonprofits but it also helps clean out  closets and is a fun shopping experience to come to! It’s positive on so many fronts.” Prices start at $20 but even if you come and spend no money there’s a good chance you’ll have a ball.
